The Campbell McLaurin Foundation for Hearing Deficiencies is a charity created by Chief Justice Campbell McLaurin's generous gift. It is here to help people who are hard of hearing who fit the income requirements mentioned by CMF (Campbell McLaurin Foundation), as explained below.

Campbell McLaurin was an important person in the legal world. He became a judge in Alberta's Supreme Court in 1942 and later became the Chief Justice of the Trial Division in 1952. He was even the first Chancellor of the University of Calgary. Chief Justice McLaurin retired in 1968 and passed away in April 1981.

IMPORTANT ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION


As an Applicant, you must:

  • Have lived in Southern Alberta for at least one year.
  • Have not received a grant from the Campbell McLaurin Foundation in the last five years (see exceptions under Award section).
  • Fit within the income guidelines below
  • Not have accessible (non-registered) savings over $25 000.00.
  • Complete the application form, and provide copies of all required Supporting Documents. Please use the provided checklist to ensure you have all of the required documents, before submitting your application.

Income Guidelines:

If Your taxable income does not exceed the following; you may be eligible for full financial assistance:

  • $31,455.00 for a single person
  • $49,860.00 for a family with no children
  • $58,875.00 for a family with children
                          OR

If your taxable income is between the following; you may be eligible for partial financial assistance:

  • $31,455.01 - $41,940.00 for a single person 
  • $49,860.01 - $66,480.00 for a family with no children 
  • $58,875.01 - $78,500.00 for a family with children

*If your taxable income exceeds the above amounts, you are not eligible for funding from The Campbell McLaurin Foundation.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS

  • CMF APPLICATION FORM, fully completed and signed (below)
  • Last year’s Notice of Assessment (NOA) from Revenue Canada showing line 260 (Taxable Income) for you and your spouse.
  • Copy of a recent hearing test

FUNDING MAXIMUM

The maximum CMF award for Safety Alerting/Assistive Equipment is $1,000.00.

Applicants are eligible for funding through CMF every 5 years unless there are exceptional circumstances. Supporting documentation must be provided.

Exceptions will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
In most cases, approval takes a maximum of 1 to 2 weeks. You will receive an award letter by email.
